1. Introduction

TV Backtest and Journal ("the Extension") is a Chrome extension for backtesting and analyzing trades on TradingView. This policy explains what data is collected and how it is handled.

2. Data Collection & Use

The Extension collects anonymous usage data through Google Analytics 4 to understand feature adoption and improve the product. This data is sent via a Cloudflare proxy and includes interaction events such as feature usage and settings changes. A randomly generated identifier is used — no personal information (name, email, or financial data) is collected.

All trade data, screenshots, and settings are stored locally in your browser and are never transmitted to any server.

3. Data Sharing

The Extension does not sell, rent, or trade any user data. Anonymous analytics data is shared with Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC). You can review Google's privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

4. Data Retention

Analytics data follows your GA4 property's retention settings. Local data is removed when you uninstall the Extension or clear its storage via chrome://extensions.

5. Your Choices

You can disable analytics tracking at any time in the Extension's settings. This persists across browser restarts. Uninstalling the Extension deletes all locally stored data.

6. Changes

If this policy is updated, the date at the top will change. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

7. Website Privacy

The Backtester website (backtester.eu) uses the following analytics tools to understand how visitors interact with the site. No cookies are placed until you click "Accept" on the consent banner shown on your first visit.

Google Analytics 4

Anonymous usage data via Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC). The following cookies may be set if you consent:

_ga — distinguishes unique users (expires 2 years)
_ga_<container-id> — maintains session state (expires 2 years)

Microsoft Clarity

Session recordings and heatmaps via Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation) to help us improve usability. In addition to behavioral data (mouse movements, clicks, scroll depth), Clarity may extract on-screen text for generating heatmaps. Clarity never captures keystrokes or form input. The following cookies may be set if you consent:

_clck — persists the Clarity user ID and preferences for this site (expires 1 year)
_clsk — connects multiple page views into a single session recording (expires on session end)
CLID — identifies the first visit seen by Clarity across sites using the service (expires 1 year)
MUID — Microsoft user identifier used across Microsoft domains (expires 1 year)

Your Choice

A consent banner lets you accept or reject analytics cookies. Your choice is stored in your browser and respected on return visits. You can change your mind at any time by clearing your browser's site data — this resets the banner so you can choose again.

9. Legal Basis for Processing

Analytics data collection on this website is based on your consent under Article 6(1)(a) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). No analytics cookies are set and no data is sent to Google Analytics until you click "Accept" on the consent banner.

10. Your Rights Under the GDPR

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Right of access — You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Right to rectification — You can ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
Right to erasure — You can request that we delete your personal data.
Right to restrict processing — You can ask us to limit how your data is used.
Right to data portability — You can request your data in a portable format.
Right to object — You can object to the processing of your data.
Right to withdraw consent — You can withdraw your consent at any time by clearing your browser's site data, which resets the consent banner. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

11. International Data Transfers

Google Analytics 4 may process data on servers located in the United States. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF), which ensures an adequate level of protection for personal data transferred from the EU to the US.
